Apple loves to do puzzles, and spends the majority of his time putting them together. It is always a hoot to sit back and watch–and listen to!–him while he works, because he sings and talks to himself. He even makes up his own songs (what a talented 2-year-old) Hilarious! Today, he was singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” I guess I need to teach him the rest of the words! This performance is not 100% natural, since he obviously knew I was filming him, and only agreed to continue singing when …

Here’s a simple addition fact that just occurred to me: 1 mom + 5 kids does not equal 6. Most of the time it comes out to a lot more than that. Somehow kids seem to multiply. Where there are a few kids, a few more will show up. Now, I’m not complaining. I love the fact that we have lots of friends, and after 8 years of being the only family members in the area, we finally have family nearby (and not only family, but a cousin!).
This week, I …

Before I get into my little vent about bedtime, I had to show off a few pictures that I took of the four younger kids at the park the other day. I didn’t get exactly what I wanted (Noodle was the only one that was really cooperative–she has got to be most photogenic child) but I think they’re still pretty good-lookin’ kids. My favorite is this first picture of Noodle, which happened by accident. The pictures were turning out dark, so I turned on the flash. I love the way …

I woke up thinking about making a list of my favorite things. My list should probably go something like this: 1) Kiwi, 2) Noodle, 3) Taco, 4) Reese, and 5) Apple. They’re my life, right? Right. But, believe it or not, there are a few more things that make me tick. This list is not in any particular order….these are just my thoughts this morning.
1) Kids….and not just my own. I have always felt more like myself with the younger generation. I tend to feel self-concious around people my …
birthday »

I decided last month that I would do something for myself on my birthday….I didn’t feel like leaving the day up to fate. The first thing I did was to set up a little birthday lunch with a few friends. Yum! What a treat! I went into lunch with a headache (from a combination of not eating enough for breakfast and getting popped in the jaw when Reese bounced off the couch before she left for school)…but I left the get together feeling refreshed. Karen treated us to grilled chicken, …

I am Lolli (short for Lollipop), a stay at home mom of 5 kids–three girls and two boys. My husband, CandyMan and I have been married since April 1995. When I think about it too much I feel OLD! CandyMan and I just started a new company (August 2008) creating foreign language software–Peanut Butter~Language Learning that Sticks–the best on the planet! It’s scary, risky, exciting, and a whole lot of work. In the middle of all of this, I enjoy taking care of the kids, blogging, thrift store shopping, and …
Fall, Halloween, photography »

We made it to the pumpkin patch yesterday. Our annual trip to the pumpkin patch is one of my favorite times to take pictures (and probably my favorite pictures to scrapbook). Peanut Butter and I love to look back at our yearly trips and compare the clothes we were wearing…Some years we’ve got short sleeves, and others we’re wearing our Winter coats already. I think this year has all others beat, though. When we pulled into the parking lot, our car read 94 degrees. Mid-90s at 5:00pm in October?! Crazy!

No, I’m not expecting again. This is even better. Actually, a lot of people already know about my little secret. The big deal is that the kids don’t know. I’m still shocked that I’ve been able to keep a secret from them for so long…
PeanutButter and I are going on a cruise in December! My parents are treating all of their kids to a 7 night cruise the week before Christmas, and we decided to leave our kids at home. We found a college student (who has babysat …

The day started out pretty good, actually. Kiwi got herself up, made her breakfast and lunch and was completely ready for school by 6:55. Since PeanutButter was already gone to an early morning meeting, we relaxed a little, talked about her hiccups that wouldn’t go away, and read together. She was about to go out to the bus stop when Apple started down the stairs. Kiwi just HAD to play with him. She ended up going out to her bus stop at the normal time (even a little earlier than …
