Autumn Quotes – Sunday Citar

15 November 2009 0 views 20 Comments

I’ve been thinking about this beautiful season we’re in, feeling a little sad that it will soon be over, with Winter taking it’s place. If it would ever stop raining around here, I have promised myself that I will head outside to take some last-of-the-season Fall photos. I haven’t gotten many this year.

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.
-Stanley Horowitz

In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil. And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such superb colour effects as from August to November.
-Rose G. Kingsley, The Autumn Garden, 1905

Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity;
but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn
on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling
hills that reach to the far horizon?
-Hal Borland

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
-Albert Camus

Youth is like spring, an over praised season more remarkable for
biting winds than genial breezes. Autumn is the mellower season,
and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.
-Samuel Butler

Here’s what Tabitha from Fresh Mommy Blog says about Sunday Citar:

“Have you come across a quote that inspired you? Or made you want to spit? Or made you smile? Or reminded you of someone special? Or reminded you of someone you try not to remember? Well, share it! Sunday Citar was born out of my desire to learn more through what others have said before. You may find it enjoyable to do the same!”

I LOVE that first quote. This year fall has been really weird here. Its been so cold that I was sure it was going to snow but the last couple of weeks, its been so warm that I needed to get the light coats out again.

Gorgeous fall photograph and the quotes that you included in your post. Enjoy the rest of the Fall ?. Our reds and yellows are quite late in California. We've had some rain so the trees can't figure it out yet.
