Wednesday is often my favorite day of the week because Wednesday is cub scouts night. I adore being the den leader. Usually. Yes, 8 year old boys can be a challenge. 8 year old boys can be noisy and fidgety. And, yes, it is really tough to manage noisy, fidgety, energetic, enthusiastic 8 year old boys while attempting to keep control over the little kids who accompany us to our activity almost every time.

But I love it.

I have loved being right smack dab in the middle of Twizzler’s first scouting experience, to see his excitement and dedication first hand. It has been fabulous to watch his progress not only as a mother but as his Akela. His leader.

This Wednesday, Twizzler earned the rank of Wolf. He finished all his requirements and then some. I was so proud of him.

And, yes, these are just a few of the faces he threw at me when I tried to take a post-Wolf ceremony photo.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love those freckles?
