I got a message on Facebook a few weeks ago regarding a friend’s friend who needed a last minute wedding photographer. My friend (actually a long time client of mine) recommended me, the bride-to-be and I chatted and checked dates, and I had a wedding on my schedule.
I arrived at the wedding location last Saturday, without ever having met the bride or groom. I was instantly struck by the beauty of the surroundings.
What a perfect place to be married, I thought.
At some point in the midst of picture taking and ceremony-preparations, I chatted with the bride about what had happened and why they needed a last-minute photographer.
They had planned a destination wedding, but Hurricane Irene prevented them from flying. Their wedding had to be postponed for 2 weeks.
Luckily, they were able to schedule the wedding ceremony at the beginning of their already-planned reception for family and friends.
Instead of having a private destination wedding they had a big wedding surrounded by their friends and family.
I loved the new bride’s attitude. It might not have been what she had planned, but it was meant to be that way.
It was a blessing.
And it was beautiful.
