I slipped the card in my camera case, where it sat for a few weeks. Last week, I emptied out the front pocket of my camera case and set the card on top of the piano. Unfortunately, I always use the top of the piano to empty my purses. Bad, bad Lolli!

Apparently, my kids noticed the card. Finally, Necco spoke up. “Mom, what is this Scary Mommy thing? Is it an award or something?”

Laughing, I said, no, but wondered to myself, “Am I a scary mommy?” Is that how my kids see me?

I suspect that most of us have a scary side. It’s all about creating a foundation of respect, right?

I finally put Jill’s card in my wallet. As I glanced at the card, I noticed some writing on the side. The card now reads: Watch out for Scary Mommy!

Cuz I am scary, you know.

I’m scary if you are 8 years old and haven’t done your dishes…..or you’re 4 years old and just peed on my wall….or you’re 6 years old and can’t find your swimming suit for camp AGAIN……You get the picture. Scary.
