All It’s Good For

After only 2 months….2 LONG months…..of Winter, I have come to the conclusion that there is only one thing that snow is good for. Sledding.

Around our house, at least.

You know it’s been a long Winter when even the kids are tired of snow. Apparently everyone but AJ is sick of doing this, too:

Yes, after another big snowstorm last weekend, only one of my five children had any interest in playing in the snow. Is it my bad attitude about the cold, wet, messy stuff that is finally rubbing off on my kids?

I’m done with temps in the teens, salt and snow tracked into my living room, boots and coats and gloves in piles around my front door.

And tonight, more is coming down. The kids will probably be home from school tomorrow. Because Maryland schools LOVE to cancel school for any all all snow. (Update: I was right. No school.)

Joy.

Angie, Can I come move in with you in sunny California? I miss my home state.

OK-I was wrong. Snow is good for one more thing: pictures. Even I have to admit that freshly fallen snow is beautiful. ;)

  1. So, it’s kinda lost it’s luster, huh? I can see how that might be the case. Great photos though.

It snowed only twice when I was a kid, where I grew up. And it was JUST enough to play in and make a small snowman. My kids have never really seen it and may never get to, depending on if we ever move from the South. I kinda wish they could experience it a few times…

Like I’ve said to other people, I’m sure we’d be wishing for it if we didn’t have snow. Kinda like my friends in Arizona who get tired of the warm weather, when right now I’d love some of it!

And that’s the problem-if they didn’t live in a snowy area, they’d be wishing for it, too!

  7. Stopping by from SITS! I have to say we are tired of Winter too. We live in Texas and it has been really cold this year. We are ready for spring

It’s sad when people in Texas are tired of the Winter. It’s been rough everywhere this year, I think!

That is bad when even the kids lose interest. What is really fun though that they many enjoy if they haven’t done it is to play football in the snow. Especially when it’s deep! That is SO much fun! I like sledding too, but could see they might get tired of it after awhile. Hang in there, spring is coming!

My kids are not complaining about the snow today! They got to sleep in and skip school! :) This is the first year that they’ve had “too much” of it. And they’ve all been raised here, so it’s not like they’re not used to it!

  10. ADORABLE photos!
I hear ya on the snow. I am sick of it too and more is falling here right now too.

I will say, it’s good for one other thing…snow cream. YUM!
I have a recipe on my cooking blog if you need one :)

Snow days are few and FAR between around here. They never happen.

I am SO stinkin’ ready for the thaw. I need some sun. Fast.
