MamaKat asked me to tell you about my most humorous wedding experience. I can’t believe I’m about to blog about my wedding night. And I’m not sure how to put this delicately. Let’s just say we laughed about it that night and we continue to laugh about it 14 years later.
Here’s how it happened:
We got married.
We took lots of pictures.
We met our friends and family at a big reception at the church. There was tons of good food. And more pictures. And lots of hand-shaking and hugging near-strangers.
We didn’t have time to eat that good food.
We changed into “travel clothes” and drove off to our honeymoon with a large gift basket full of the bounties of the reception:
Wedding cake
Cocktail meatballs
Mints
Pistachios
We ate and ate. It had been a long day.
And sometime in the middle of the night, we both noticed some uncomfortable rumblings. Certainly not the kinds of things you want to feel or hear on your honeymoon.
We could have both been horrified by the sounds and smells. But instead we laughed and laughed. What a way to break us into the realities of marriage.
Our wedding night stunk. Like gas-mask stink.
It was totally and completely disgusting, but it made us remember that we would loved each other. Through thick and thin and stinky gas. The awkwardness and the nerves were gone, and we laughed.
We’re still laughing. Life isn’t always funny, but we’re still laughing.

Sleeves like that beg to be mentioned : )
I thought puffy sleeves were SO cool when I was a little girl!
I could NOT wait until I could have a puffy sleeve dress!
Isn't that funny? : )

You are the first person to mention my terribly out of style puffy
early 90s sleeves! THANK YOU!
I LOVED my dress when I bought it, but I bought it in 1993 and didn't
get married til 1995. I was already over it by the time I got married.
Oh well. I only wore it once, right?

Really? Ken? And you didn't say that I looked like Barbie?! Should I
be offended? Haha!
Usually, he is mistaken for Hugh Grant. And it bugs him to death.
Actually, now that he keeps his hair short, nobody says Hugh Grant
anymore, come to think of it.
