Mama's Losin' It

I love Mama Kat’s Writer’s Prompts and the way they get me thinking….especially on days when I am stuck home with sick kids and think I don’t have anything to write about. Yep, that’s me today. Reese went into the doctor yesterday with a case of strep. The rest of our plans for the week have halted, and I am home-bound. Luckily (or unfortunately….I can’t decide), she is not feeling sick. Which simply means that I have to keep her away from other people and at home while she is bouncing off the walls.

Mama Kat recently read all about the importance of us bloggers developing an “Elevator Pitch” via one of her new favorite blogs, Problogger. According Wikipedia, an Elevator Pitch is “an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words).” She challenged us to create one short (a sentence long) and one longer (100 – 150 words) Elevator Pitch describing what your blog is about.

Here’s the short one:

Kids, photos, blogging, and candy….they’re all Better in Bulk.

Strangely enough, I just wrote a little “pitch” for my blog for the Casual Bloggers Conference, where I will be speaking in a few months. So here you go….a little about me and what this blog is about:

I am first and foremost the mother of 5 beautiful children. I’m a mother by choice, a teacher by degree, a photographer by profession, and a blogger by chance. When I started blogging, I had no idea how much I’d enjoy telling the stories of my family’s life….and that I’d be telling my stories to strangers who would become some of my best friends. When I’m not blogging or taking pictures, I’m probably reading a good book while preparing dinner, planning cub scouts, and helping kids with homework. In my spare time, I support my husband in developing foreign language software. I also try to sleep every once in a while.

What would your elevator pitch sound like?
