It has taken me nearly a week to recover from the 12-year-old birthday sleep over party that occurred at my house last Friday.

Kidding.

It wasn’t really that bad. It was noisy, yes. It was messy, too.

But I was more than happy to play host to good kids having good, clean fun together.

I loved that they sat around playing music together (although I really did hear enough Heart and Soul on the piano to last a lifetime).

I love that they laughed together – but not at someone else’s expense.

I love that they cried together over the loss of one of their friends, who just 2 weeks ago was on the birthday list and now….is gone. And after they cried, I witnessed these young girls comforting each other and moving forward.

It was a good week. It was a good party. But I am still exhausted by it all.

  16. Those parties remind me so much of my own childhood. 12years old and sleepover was just awesome. I’m sure the girls had a great time even though they had to deal with the hard part of life as well.
